Doctors of Chiropractic are physicians in the State of Florida and have equal standing to Medical physicians. The difference is MDs study invasive care such as drugs intervention and surgery. Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) focus their care on the physical examination and conservative treatment of the human frame without drugs and without surgery. We do refer out if for invasive treatments only when conservative care is not enough to handle more complex cases. The cornerstone of the Chiropractic profession is that the body is designed to heal itself if given the proper means to do so. Disease happens after a prolonged period of dis-ease, or lack of proper function which in most cases is a lack of proper joint movement in the body. We help your body move better so it performs better and you heal faster.
Chiropractors have become pioneers in the field of non-invasive chiropractic care promoting science-based approaches to a variety of ailments. A continuing dedication to chiropractic research could lead to even more discoveries in the possibility of preventing and combating maladies in the future.
The Chiropractic Care Lifestyle is modifiable to your needs. Ideally, it is eating right, staying as physical as possible, and making sure the brain-body connection is as strong as possible so you can get as much out of your physical body as possible. This philosophy does not require a limitation in age or ability. Chiropractic is for everyone!

Opioids and Chiropractic: According to the article “New Guidelines on Low Back Pain Recommend Use of Non-Drug Treatments First Before Medications” by Dr. William Lauretti” there is an epidemic in our nation which requires getting addicted people out of pain so they can treat their addictions successfully. “Deaths involving opioids have quadrupled since 1999; in 2014 alone, more than 14,000 people died from overdoses involving the drugs. That same year, another 2 million people abused or were dependent on opioids.”
The fact is: people who are prescribed opioids are in pain. Most pain is muscle and skeletal. These patients should be referred to a Chiropractic Physician first! As a profession, we have proven in study after study that we help people get out of pain and reduce the need for drugs and surgery.
Pregnancy and Chiropractic: According to the NBCI study, “Chiropractic evaluation and treatment during pregnancy may be considered a safe and effective means of treating common musculoskeletal symptoms that affect pregnant patients.”
Dr. Susan Sanders has 20 years of experience treating pregnant women. With her techniques, the patient can choose to be adjusted seated, laying upright or laying down. Adjustments are provided with light techniques of tool or hand adjusting. Dr. Sanders is a successful practitioner of Dr. Webster’s Technique for patients with a breech presentation.
Children and Chiropractic: Dr. Sanders has been treating families since she graduated in 1998. Children experience a wide variety of physical ailments: falls, congestion in the ears, sinus and lungs, sports, car accidents. They deserve to be as healthy as possible growing up which means they need to be fully functional. Kids do not complain when their function decreases due to injuries. They make do. It is up to the family to get them checked periodically to ensure the best chance at growing up with a healthy nervous system and a solid foundation for physical growth. Low Back Pain and Chiropractic: The NIH (National Institutes of Health) describes low back pain and treatment as follows – “Low-back pain (often referred to as “lower back pain”) is a common condition that usually improves with self-care (practices that people can do by themselves, such as remaining active, applying heat, and taking pain-relieving medications). However, it is occasionally difficult to treat. Some health care professionals are trained to use a technique called spinal manipulation to relieve low-back pain and improve physical function (the ability to walk and move).”
Chiropractors use the term subluxation to describe the misalignment of the spine which pinches a nerve and causes pain or dysfunction wherever that nerve may go. We use the term adjustment to describe the mobilization of the spine in a specific way for the purpose of restoring joint motion and nerve function. Our field of Chiropractic has been practicing this method since 1895. Most Osteopaths no longer practice their similar art of manipulating the spine, although it is making a comeback in their field. Chiropractors are the experts of the spine and how to move it properly.
